I svenskan har ordet hittat in i spr\u00e5ket med <em>xenofobi<\/em>, sjuklig r\u00e4dsla f\u00f6r fr\u00e4mlingar. Ordet <em>filoxenia<\/em> &#8211; g\u00e4stv\u00e4nlighet &#8211; har inte haft samma framg\u00e5ng. Det \u00e4r konstigt, eftersom det inte \u00e4r fr\u00e4mlingsfientlighet utan g\u00e4stv\u00e4nlighet som \u00e4r en av grekernas mest framtr\u00e4dande egenskaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jag har hur m\u00e5nga historier som helst att ber\u00e4tta om grekisk g\u00e4stfrihet. Om hur vi har g\u00e5tt in p\u00e5 ett kaf\u00e9 f\u00f6r en kaffe och ett toalettbes\u00f6k och kommit ut m\u00e4tta och halvfulla med en kasse apelsiner och en flaska tsikoudia i n\u00e4ven. Hur vi har g\u00e5tt in p\u00e5 en taverna som visat sig vara st\u00e4ngd, men inte till\u00e5tits g\u00e5 d\u00e4rifr\u00e5n f\u00f6rr\u00e4n vi har delat \u00e4garfamiljens julm\u00e5ltid med dem. De s\u00e4ger alltid &#8221;Om det \u00e4r n\u00e5got du beh\u00f6ver hj\u00e4lp med s\u00e5 s\u00e4g bara till&#8221;. Och de menar det. De kanske gl\u00f6mmer bort det, (en annan grekisk egenskap) men de menar det bokstavligt. Alldeles nyss hj\u00e4lpte en v\u00e4n mig att fixa ett hotellrum p\u00e5 Halkidiki. En annan k\u00f6pte t\u00e5gbiljetter till Nordmakedonien \u00e5t mig. Detta \u00e4r bara en dags manifestationer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En av v\u00e5r sons gudf\u00e4der kommer fr\u00e5n s\u00f6dra Rhodos, en trakt k\u00e4nd f\u00f6r exceptionell g\u00e4stfrihet. Det tog ett \u00e5r innan <em>vi<\/em> lyckades bjuda <em>honom<\/em> p\u00e5 en drink och d\u00e5 surade <em>han<\/em> i flera dagar. <em>Sonen<\/em>&nbsp;fick godis, presenter och stora sedlar. Vi sk\u00e4mdes, svenskar som vi \u00e4r. Till slut f\u00f6rstod vi att det bara fanns en sak att g\u00f6ra: uts\u00e4tt andra f\u00f6r samma g\u00e4stfrihet som grekerna uts\u00e4tter dig f\u00f6r! L\u00e5t dem f\u00f6rst f\u00e5 sk\u00e4mmas, sedan l\u00e4ra sig och slutligen sj\u00e4lva bli mer g\u00e4stv\u00e4nliga. Det funkar ofta, eftersom det \u00e4r r\u00e4tt sk\u00f6nt att g\u00f6ra andra m\u00e4nniskor glada. Tacksamheten f\u00f6rs\u00e4tter oss inte i skuld, som vi lutheraner tror. Den \u00e4r tv\u00e4rtom en ins\u00e4ttning p\u00e5 personkontot, som f\u00e5r oss att m\u00e5 bra och g\u00f6ra gott!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fundera g\u00e4rna \u00f6ver varf\u00f6r greker i gemen \u00e4r s\u00e5 g\u00e4stfria. Jag har f\u00e5tt ett par olika f\u00f6rklaringar, men de f\u00e5r inte plats h\u00e4r.
